2005 newsletter .

With great sadness we have to inform our members of the IBK that one of
ours passed away .

HASHMET BAKHTIARI Shihan 5th dan of the IBK passed away the 24 of april
around 1800 hours .

He was born on the 2 nd of May 1973 in Afhganistan and lived for many years
now in Germany where he also had his dojo .

Only 32 years of age with so many enthusiastic plans to work with the IBK
and with me to make it greater and to work together to pass on techniques
and information .

I hope that he is in a better place and also that in the future we will
meet him there again to train together .
Hashmat thanks for all you did for the IBK and for me .
I for one will miss you very much .
I wish the family strength and wisdom .

I am offially invited as guest of honor to the wordlchampionships of the
Royama karate group and the Russian President of that group all expenses payed .
So the real SPIRIT "KOKORO " is coming into effect by mutual respect and
understanding and working together for the better of our sport .

The year started slow like the still before a storm .

Than a invitation for the Arnold martial arts festival wich is every year
in Columbus Ohio .
If I please would come to that festival to get honored for a life in Budo
.Jimmy Bregman 8th dan Judo IBK told me .
From the 4th until the 6 th of March .
When I ask what the Arnold festival was he mailed me that it was Arnold
Zwartszenegger the famous Bodybuilding champ for so many years and who now
topped it all by becoming the Governor of the State California USA.
And I went back in my memories to the year 1968 when he just took the title
of Mr Universe and we gave together a demonstration in our own field ( me in
karate ) in Brugge Belgium .
It was a great time .See my book .
So OF COURSE I would go especial when I could travel business class and all
the rest payed for .
And it was as I expected GREAT and BUSY with more than 80.000 visitors on
the 5th of March unbelievable .!!!
I have never seen so may 120 kilo pure muscles running around that place in
my whole life .
18.000 participants in 1300 martial arts disciplines fought for the top
honor , talking about eager beavers .
On the last night during a lavish dinner party strictly for the top brash
I was honoured with a big plate on the top a beautifull eagle and under it
in golden letters why they honoured me for a life in Budo .
Thanks a lot guys .
Than I had only one day of rest and off to Moscou and the same day to
Siberia .
This was a real ball buster which took a lot out of me .
It is not the seminars but the long travel hours which gets to me .
But the members are real budoka and the spirit has not changed since they
beat the Germans in the 2nd WW in Stalingrad with pure determination .they
are still damn good fighters and keen to learn and that is what I love to
teach .
Georgy Astafiev made 6th dan NOT because he is such a great fighter but
because he is a terrific Sensei who keeps his flock together and who has
many good fighters and teachers which means that he is worth his 6th dan
which I was happy to honor him with .
Also his shihandai Ivan Molotov who is not a big person but rather muscular
and very fast who can beat many a good fighter with his ability on the
tatami .
He made easy 5th dan .
His other assistant Andrey Vetoshkin made 4 th dan .
Many others sho and ni dan and several san dan . all well deserved .

Thomsk where I started the Siberian go around was also a very good seminar
with Vitaly Lee Sensei .
And two new dojos in the IBK .
From their a 5 hour drive to Novosibirsk HQ of the Astafiev dojo .
The examinations where very good which proved again that Georgy Dai Shihan
does a good jod with his students and two new dojos this time not only for
karate but my old friend Viktor Sosnovskie from the Siberian Aikido
Association and his friend and mine Oleg Pankratov from the Siberian Jiu
Jitsu Association both made 4th dan easy a wonderfull asset to the
BUDOKAIKAN which means all martial arts can join .

Some days later back to Moscou where I met my old friends like Sergey
Kosorotov 8 th dan Judo IBK ( the 2000 worldchamp HW ). his shihandai Mike
Kokin 5 th dan and the old special forces veterans the 6th dan Alex
Arabadjiev an Kyoshi of the Dai Nihon Butokukai who is also 6th dan of
the IBK , a terrific fighter .
The friends from before, who read my book in Russian and are now in the
Budokai like . Sergey Badyuk and his friend and bodyguard the old police
chief in the Ukraine Yuri Fedorishen who both did a fabulous demo which
also was a exam and made 6th dan IBK Sergey who runs one of the most
beautifull restaurants in the world called SHANTI and totally on a Tibetan
basis and unbelievable food is also a former commando who runs now a
business and does well for himself .
They often go to Japan and beat the hell out of most of them and love to do
that like me in the old days .
All by all a fantastic asset for the INT Budokaikan .
The Ashihara Budokai was again there at the seminar and did also
examination for a higher degree after so many years .
It was not such a surprise that the coach Ivan Semenov worldchampion
Ashihara made 6th dan he is a wonderfull fighter and a good coach .
Their President Alexander Yanov made 4 th Dan the group is really growing
and getting very strong indeed .
The party the last night was lovely and Badyuk Dai Shihan introduced me to a
new group of members , all bodybuilders and the undisputed champion Oleg
Emelianov . they joined just to learn with all those muscles also to
defend themselves if nessesary .which is a good idйe .
Badyuk is like me a very firm believer in real fighting for selfdefence and
hates all the traditional bullshit a lot of socalled teachers sell in their
dojos .
Anybody who does not believe Sergey is always very welcome to fight or train
with them and believe you me it is better to fight with them than eat with
them for when you fight with them you are sure to get your fill .
After the cognac and havannas it was next day back to Holland and certainly
a week of completely rest for especially Siberia had me tired out and it is
a real pissoff to get your nose on the grinder that I am not 27 anymore .
But what the hell we see where it will end I certainly hope on the tatami
choking the crap out of some hot shot .
Thanks friends especially in Moscou for the terrific time you gave this old
Kyoshi and Kaicho .
The 2nd and 3rd of April I went to Oliver Witte an enthusiastic young budoka
who already for years studied Aiki jitsu in the States with the Shihandai of
Seagall who some time ago broke up with Seagall and has his own dojo and is
a very good Budoka indeed .
So Ollie started a few years ago combining his style with karate and did a
good job on that .
Our new Dai Shihan of Belgium Eric Vaerenberg who made 4th dan , was their
with some students and Ralf Fharun from Germany was there .and some of the
students of my old student Geert Lemmens 8th dan IBK and Kaicho of the
Gadgamala .
All by all a very good seminar enjoyed by every one .
Will do that again around autumn /in his beautifull dojo in Remscheid .
After my car broke down and I had to stay two more days for the repair job I
could not help but thinking it was more Remshit Next trip will be to my old
student Wolfgang Tauer 6th dan , Dai Shihan of Norway and his two sons.
Together also with Ollie Witte who made his Shodan we picked up again Bo
and Jo jitsu just for fun .
For me it has been a while but like riding a bike you never really forget it
.

It is almost for sure that in August I will be invited to give a seminar
for the Army and Police in Suriname with Remie Burke Dai Shihan and
brandnew 6th dan the first in that region .
